RacerWerx Logos & Graphics

***Please note: These are draft graphics and do not represent any final version or form. Interested collaborators will be surveyed prior to finalization of graphics; and, as is often the case with any sort of branding, as better forms are developed, newer versions may replace older versions. Constructive input and criticism is encouraged. Volunteers willing to provide time towards improving or creating new graphics are certainly appreciated, especially students.

Logos and graphics are being developed in order to identify the location of collaborative sites around campus. These locations are managed and supervised by faculty or professional staff, usually, and interested parties need to check into obtaining permission before attempting to use any device.

The logos and graphics being developed are to encourage a sense of community, that everyone is operating under the same broad sense of objectives. The graphics below were created by a former art student (left), and Michael Busby (Mid-America Remote Sensing Center, right).

The first graphic depicts a potential banner, suitable for a webpage, door or room banner.

The second graphic depicts a modified Racer shield, with school colors. The gears evoke a sense of engineering and moving parts. The graphic would be customizable to the department, school, college, or student group. The left-gear contains the 3-character MSU catalog code for the academic unit. The lower gear contains a symbol or icon representing the particular field or discipline. The Latin phrase, "labos nunc, apologia crastinum" translates as, "Work now, apologize later," a mantra for showing initiative, drive, and desire for achieving goals in the face of adversity.

The graphics need improvement. However, having nice graphics for embedding in posters for presentations, websites, identifying workshops, or collaborators would be nice.
