K12 STEM Programming

PROGRAMMING

Programming, or as is becoming popular, "coding," is the 21st century version of woodshop, and is as important as learning a second spoken language.

Scratch is designed with learning and education in mind. A wide variety of educators have been supporting Scratch creators since 2007, in both formal and informal learning environments – K-12 classroom teachers, educational and computer science researchers, librarians, museum educators, and parents.

Kids Ruby is real Ruby code, but with an interface made with kids in mind.

Hackety-Hack is another programming for beginners website with children (or adults) in mind who have little to zero programming experience. Ruby is the language du jour. Some websites present information and tutorials in different ways, so keep hunting until you find one that works.
